The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks- This is a natural sciences issue because of the biology behind this work. Henrietta's cells are the main focus of this work, therefore has a lot to do with biology.
Babies- This is a natural sciences because of the environment that the babies all lived. Pseudo-science- various methods, theories, or systems, as astrology, considered as having scientific basis. Ex: Mythical Creatures - The belief that fairies, elves, pixies and gnomes exist Hypothesis- a proposition, or set of propositions, set forth as an explanation for the occurrence of some specified thing. Used as a provisional conjecture to guide investigation. Ex: I hypothesize that the alcohol will break down the carrots into smaller pieces Confirmation bias- a psychological phenomenon that explains why people seek out information that confirms their existing opinions and overlook or ignore information that refutes their beliefs. Normally occurs when people filter out the facts and opinions that don’t agree with their side. Ex. A person finds something about Tom Brady to prove he is guilty and will not look at stuff proving him innocent. Paradigm- A set of forms all of which contain a particular element, especially the set of all inflected forms based on a single stem or theme. Ex. The TOK paradigm, cinedigm Relativism- The theory that all things are connected, varying with individuals and their environments Ex. If this one exception is granted, the whole illusory universe of relativism is overthrown. Theory- a proposed explanation whose status is still subject to experimentation, which is very different than a well-established proposition that reports matters of actual fact. Ex. The scientific Theory Falsification- to alter fraudulently Ex. Newton’s Theory of Gravity, Does God Exist? Rationalism- the principle or habit of accepting reason as the supreme authority in matters of opinion, belief, or conduct. The belief that the mind is the best way of determining how things are. Ex. Labor day does not commemorate a historical event, so it shouldn’t be considered a holiday. |
